Hey Guys & Gals! Gibson GA30-RVH Guitar amp head and matching 2x10 Celestion Vintage 10's/2x12 Celestion vintage 30's cab.
For me this amp delivers the tone I've been searching for since 1966 when I started playing guitar. the amp has all the features I need and none that I don't.
Features: 2 independent preamps. All tube signal path. S.S. rectifier. 4 EL-84 output tubes. 3-12ax7 pre-amp tubes. 1-12ax7 phase splitter. Tube reverb (2 tubes - 1 drive and 1 return). Tube effects loop (switchable for series or parallel) with rear mounted send and return levels. Line out on back. 2 button footswitch (included wiht amp) with rear jack. 2-8 OHM and 1-16 OHM outputs. DIN jack on back for optional 5 button foot controller. 1 front input jack. 2 front mounted switches for channel switching and boost.
Controls (Front): Channel-1 Volume, Treble, Middle, and Bass. Channel-2 Gain, Level, Treble, Middle, and Bass. Separate Reverb controls for each channel. Master volume. Off/Standby/On switch.
What does it sound like? Well....channel 1 is very smooth, clean, warm and vintage voiced. Very clean untill about 7 then starts to break up. chanel 1 boosted starts breaking up almost immediatly. Very good blues sound. Channel 2 is "Modern" voiced and is very "Violin" like in its sustain. Very smooth overdrive and can get suprisingly nasty (good nasty!). The most surprising sound is obtainable with the optional 5-button footswitch which lets one engage BOTH channels at once! Boosted or not-boosted! I used to wonder how players got a "clean distortion"...well this does it and depending on the volume of each channel is how much "definition" you get. REALLY NICE! Anyway...sorry for the long winded description but this is an incredible Amp/Cab combination!
