Squier Stratocaster

My first electric guitar, and for over two years my only one. I bought her then (2002) relatively expensive (305andeuro;), and until half a year ago I was absolutely satisfied with her. That changed when I started to get more interested in guitars.

I bought her because of her beautiful sunburst finish without playing her a single time. I think I would then not have been able to distinguish her sound from that of an ES-175 anyway.

To the sound: On the whole it's rather average, neither treble nor bass are accentuated in any way. The consequence of this is, that it's hard to separate single notes from the sound of a chord into which I play them. Solos sound very thin on the higher frets. As soon as I go higher than fret 12 or 14 on the g, b or e-string, it simply doesn't sound like much.

The fretboard is rather narrow and very flat. I like it, because when I accompany others with the Strat, I can hold bar chords much longer than on my other guitars, where it doesn't take long until it takes to much strength and my thumb starts to hurt.

About two months ago I purchased an Epiphone Casino, and now I use the Stratocaster spare guitar or to play harder sounds that don't fit a jazz guitar.
